Critical Care Outreach (CCOT)
Critical Care Outreach teams offer critical care skills to patients with, or are at risk of, critical illness receiving care on wards within the acute hospital setting. The team may be made up of nurse, paramedics and allied health professionals who are highly experienced and skills at managing deteriorating patients. Their role is to prevent admission to critical care where possible and facilitate timely and safe transfer to higher levels of care. The team also supports patient recovery following step down from critical care.
